I’ve never really “got” the whole resurrection thing. I am an atheist, and have absolutely no belief in anything supernatural. What I can’t get my head around is, even IF there HAD BEEN a Jesus, and somehow he had died and miraculously come back to life, how does that translate into saving the world from anything? It’s an absolute fiction. Everything in the bible makes as much sense as Hans Christian Anderson’s and Grimm’s fairytales.

I believe in evolution, still do, but the idea of Horizontal Gene Transfer and convergent evolution challenges my evolutionary view? I always believed physical similarities and Dna are very strong points for evolution, but these two ideas mentioned above seem to challenge my view? I grew up in the cult of catholicism.. Alter boy, whole nine. I was an atheist by the time I was 16. I have a degree in Classical studies. However, it had never occurred to me to question the historicity of Jesus. I would like to thank dr Carrier for opening the door for me to be even more iconoclastic than I already was. As a believer I find the arguments put forth by the atheist side unconvincing. That other atheist find them convincing does not surprise me at all. I kinda like that in athletic contests like boxing when one guy gets knocked out there is a clear winner. But when there is no knockout, either side may think their guy was better. That the atheists think their side won is just an example of this. As a believer, this debate and others I have watched haven't even dented my armor. If you are an atheist these guys are your heroes, because they support your already held opinions on the subject and seemingly give it support with stuff like textural criticism/the opinions of mostly unbelieving egg heads. So much of the stuff in academia is debatable as to having any validity. Glad I have God's word to guide me through this world ruled by evil men who are their own god subject to all the passions that that entails.

Strange how all the miraculous events that took place in the biblical days came to a screeching halt with the advent of recording devices. Why is this the case? Could it be that these events could have only been witnessed during a time when only a select number of people were privileged to experience them, leaving the rest of humanity dependent on faith or outright suspicious and doubting.
